Stand Up Comedy

I recently took a comedy class with Stand Up Director and Coach, Chris Head.
This was both a terrifying and hugely rewarding experience for me, someone who has never occupied a solo stage before and never actually written down a joke.

My first set, performed at the Wenlock & Essex pub in Nov 18 was great fun, and I’m now committed to writing more and performing more.
I’m actively seeking more opportunities in this space, so please get in touch if you’re interested.

Take a look at my set here

Late Excuse Bot

This is a twitter bot that I built using Tracery and Cheap Bots Done Quick.

As someone who has made a number of excuses for being late in my time, I thought it only sensible and efficient to use basic programming skills to automate the task for me.

It is increasingly easy to create bots just like this one, and a number of interesting and hilarious ones are already out in the world, cheerfully pouring nonsense into the void.

Procrastination Quest

Procrastination Quest is a game that I’ve progressively built using Twine, which is a truly excellent tool for making text-based games, or interactive stories.

Though my game is moreĀ of a surrealist nightmare, based on the musings of someone clearly losing it, there are a great number of fantastic uses of this medium and a selection of really good examples can be found here.

Hamish Reads

HamishReads is a pet project that I’m using to record and share the best long read content that I find, as I’m a real fan of longer, thoughtful and often storied pieces. There is no theme to the content, just anything interesting, from the biology of an octopus, to the story of a McDonalds Monopoly crime empire.
